09:30 to 11:00 Depart the city and travel towards the Cradle of Humankind while receiving an introduction to the Witwatersrand geology and the significance of this region in human evolution.
11:00 to 12:30 Arrive at the UNESCO-listed Sterkfontein Caves and join a specialist site guide. Descend into the limestone chambers, walk along boardwalks, view ancient stalactites and stalagmites, see the underground lake, and stand near the excavation sites where Mrs Ples and Little Foot fossils were discovered.
12:30 to 13:00 Enjoy a scenic drive through the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage landscape towards the Maropeng Visitor Centre, with an optional stop for lunch at the Maropeng restaurant at your own expense.
13:00 to 14:30 Enter the iconic Tumulus building at the Maropeng Visitor Centre and explore the award-winning interactive museum. Experience the underground boat ride through Ice, Fire, Earth, and Water while learning about the origins and evolution of humankind.
14:30 to 16:00 Begin the return journey to the city with time to reflect on and discuss the day's discoveries with your Trek Jozi host.
16:00 Arrive back at your hotel in time for your evening plans.
