The itinerary

Day 01

Kampala to Bwindi Through Uganda's Scenic Highlands

  • Depart from Kampala at dawn and travel southwest through villages, cultivated farmlands, and scenic rolling hills.

  • Stop at the Equator for photographs before continuing to Mbarara for lunch.

  • Drive into the highlands as you approach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.

  • Arrive in the evening, check into your forest lodge, and enjoy dinner before resting for the next day's trekking.

Day 02

Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit

  • Begin your morning with breakfast, then proceed to the Bwindi park headquarters for a full trekking briefing.

  • Start your guided trek at 9:00 a.m. through dense rainforest in search of a mountain gorilla family.

  • Spend one hour observing the gorillas as they feed, interact, and play in their natural habitat.

  • Return to the lodge to relax before heading out for a community visit to meet the Batwa forest people.

Day 03

Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

  • Enjoy breakfast, then travel north towards Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha sector.

  • Explore the Ishasha region, where the famous tree-climbing lions are often seen resting in fig trees.

  • Continue into the park and, time permitting, enjoy an afternoon boat safari along the wildlife-rich Kazinga Channel.

  • Observe hippos, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife along the shores.

Day 04

Game Drive or Chimpanzee Tracking and Return

  • Set out early for either a classic savannah game drive or a chimpanzee tracking experience.

  • Watch for early morning predators returning from night hunts, as well as elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and hyenas.

  • Have lunch, then begin the scenic return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, where the safari concludes.
