Day 01: Arrive in Accra (Akwaaba Welcome)
Arrive in Accra, Ghana and meet our representatives at the airport.
Receive assistance and transfer from the airport to your hotel.

Day 02: Accra City Tour
After breakfast, depart for a sightseeing tour of Accra, the capital of Ghana.
Experience the city orientation and learn about its history as the capital since 1877.
Travel through administrative and economic districts.
Visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture.
See Independence and Black Star Square.

Day 03: Accra – Slave Dungeon Experience (Elmina)
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for Elmina.
Visit Elmina Castle, also called St George’s Castle, built in 1482 by the Portuguese.
Learn about the relationship between Western slave traders and African tribes during the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Day 04: Slave Dungeon Experience and Elmina Fishing Village Tour – Reverential Night
After breakfast, embark on a tour of forts, castles, and slave dungeons.
Learn how the slave trade unfolded and its lasting global impact.
Visit Cape Coast Castle, originally built by the Swedes in 1653 and later taken by the British.

Day 05: Emancipation Durbar at Assin Manso
After breakfast, check out and drive along the former slave route to Assin Manso.
Visit the slave dungeons and the final transit point before departure to the New World.
See the final resting place of two ancestors whose remains returned from the USA and Jamaica.

Day 06: Kumasi City Tour – Ashanti Craft Villages
After breakfast, visit Manhyia Palace Museum.
Explore relics and artefacts revealing the regal Ashanti history dating back to 1700.
Enjoy a city drive viewing monuments dedicated to Ashanti heritage.

Day 07: Besease Shrine – Accra
After breakfast, check out and depart for Accra.
En route, visit Besease Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage traditional fetish shrine near Ejisu.
Learn about obosom spirits mediating between mortals and Nyame, the supreme God.

Day 08: Living Heritage Ceremony – Torgorme Village
After breakfast, travel to a village along the lower Volta River.
Pay a courtesy call on the chief and elders with traditional drumming and dancing.

Day 09: Lome City Tour (Togo)
After breakfast, check out and travel to Togo.
Explore Lome city including Musée National and Place de la République.
Visit Independence Monument, Grand Marche and Marche des Feticheurs (Fetish Market).

Day 10: Lome – Ouidah (Benin)
After breakfast, check out and travel to Ouidah, cradle of African Traditional Religion.
Visit the Temple of the Sacred Python and the sacred forest with shrines dedicated to deities.

Day 11: Cotonou – Ganvie
After breakfast, depart for Ganvie, the village on water.
Experience daily life as locals trade from dugout canoes across the lake.

Day 12: Ouidah – Accra
After breakfast, check out and depart for Accra.
Stop in Lome and enjoy lunch on your own at a beachside restaurant.
Continue to Accra and overnight at The Pelican Hotel.
