2-Day Tarangire and Ngorongoro Wildlife Safari with Crater Game Drives

After breakfast, your Tanzanian safari driver-guide will collect you, and your safari will commence.

Drive from Moshi to Tarangire National Park. This takes approximately 3 hours.

Enjoy a full day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch looking out over the river to break up the time in the car.

After a rewarding game drive, before it gets dark, drive to the lodge or campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), a UNESCO World Heritage Site; this drive can take up to 30 minutes.

Once in the NCA, see the Rift Valley and animals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, monkeys, and birds. The main feature of the NCA is the Ngorongoro Crater, a large, unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera. The crater, which formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago, is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep, and its floor covers 260 km2 (100 sq mi).

Enter the crater and witness a large concentration of wild animals. This is undoubtedly the best place to see black rhino in Tanzania, as well as prides of lions that include magnificent black-maned males. There are also lots of colourful flamingoes and a variety of water birds. Other game commonly sighted includes cheetahs, hyenas, and many other members of the antelope family.

After completing your drive, return to Moshi or Arusha.
