Day by day

The itinerary

Day 01

Luanda to Kalandula Falls via Ndalatando

Depart Luanda for a long scenic drive (approx. 7-8 hrs, ~520 km) to Kalandula Falls, one of Africa's largest waterfalls by volume.
Stop in Ndalatando to explore the Rosas de Porcelana Botanical Garden.
Arrive at Kalandula Falls in the early afternoon and enjoy 1-2 hours admiring the spectacular 105-meter drop and 400-meter width.
Take the short but slippery road to the base of the waterfall for a unique perspective.

Overnight at Pousada de Kalandula, situated in front of the falls.

Day 02

Kalandula Falls, Malanje and Kwanza Rapids

Return to Kalandula Falls in the morning for a different viewpoint of the majestic waterfall.
Drive to Malanje (approx. 2 hrs, 60 km).
Continue to Kwanza municipality to visit Rapidas do Kwanza (approx. 2 hrs, 60 km), exploring the impressive river rapids.
Return to Malanje for an overnight stay at Hotel Palanca.

Day 03

Pedras Negras and Return to Luanda

Drive to Pedras Negras (~2 hrs, 65 km) and explore the striking black rock formations with historical significance related to the Kingdom of Ndongo.
Stop in Dondo for a local lunch near the river.
Continue the drive back to Luanda (~6 hrs), arriving in the evening.

Overnight at Hotel IlhaMar or similar.
