Description

Reach the summit of Tocllaraju mountain in the Cordillera Blanca mountain ranges of Peruvian Andes. At the top, enjoy an amazing sunrise reflection over various mountains peaks of Palcaraju, Ranrapalca, Ocshapalca and Akilpo, 

Highlights
  • Go to Callejon de Huaylas valley, an inter-Andean valley
  • Hike up to Tocllaraju mountain, one of the highest mountains in Cordillera Blanca
  • Day 1- Huaraz (3100 m) – Pashpa village (3600 m) – Ishinca base camp (4350 m). expand_more
    • Depart from Huaraz at 8:00 am, toward the north side of Callejon de Huaylas. From Paltay town, turn east towards Pashpa village at 3600 m, on a dirt road. (Driving time: 2 hours. Walk time: 4 hours)

    • Meet with the donkey driver, who will help in loading the climbing gear to the base camp at 4350 m. 

    Overnight camp at Ishinca base camp. 

  • Day 2- Ishinca base camp (4350 m) – Tocllaraju moraine camp (4900 m). expand_more
    • Prepare the climbing gear, and then climb up for 4 hours to reach the next campsite at Moraine. (Climbing time: 4 hours)

    • In the evening, enjoy an amazing sunset.

    Overnight camp at Moraine camp.

  • Day 3- Tocllaraju moraine camp (4900 m) – Tocllaraju summit (6034 m) Ishinca base camp (430 m). expand_more
    • Start early at 1:00 am, have breakfast, and start hiking towards the summit. [Climbing time: 14 hours (ascent & descent)]

    • After 6 hours of ascending, reach the summit of Mount Tocllaraju at 6034 m. On the top, enjoy amazing sunrise and astonishing mountains view of the Palcaraju Mountain, Ranrapalca Mountain, Ocshapalca Mountain, Akilpo Mountain and other mountain peaks. 

    • Descend on the same route to the base camp. Spend the last night camping at Ishinca base camp. 

  • Day 4- Ishinca base camp (4350 m) – Pashpa village (3600 m) – Huaraz expand_more
    • Pick up the climbing gear, and walk down along the Ishinca Valley until Cochapampa head back to Huaraz in private transport.(Driving time: 2 hours. Walk time: 4 hours)

Know before you go
  • It’s one of the most frequented peaks over 6000 m by every mountaineer, which is located the northeast of Huaraz on Ishinca valley. The normal route goes up on the south ridge until the summit. When you reach the summit, you will have an amazing mountain view and deep valleys of Callejon de Huaylas and Conchucos.

  • Maximum altitude: 6034 m. (Tocllaraju summit).

  • Difficulty: Hard or difficult.

  • Duration: 4 days / 3 nights.

  • Preferred time: May – September.

  • Average temperature: Between 13° C – 23° C during the day/ at night -05°C to – 02°C on the top – 10°C


Important Advice:

  • Do an early book to get special discounts. 

  • For booking validation, deposit 40% of the total price, and pay the rest 60% upon arrival in Peru or Huaraz.
