Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Albania-Montenegro border, sun-kissed Ulcinj is the perfect place to sample the fusion of cultures and creeds that occurs along this stretch of the Adriatic coast. Its long beachfront is at the heart of the action, stretching from the sands of Velika Plaza (Long beach) along the olive groves of calm Valdanos Bay to the Mala Paza (small beach). Here, beach clubs thump to the bass, kebab cooks sizzle skewers on open flames, little Albanian-style coffee shops clutch the promenade, and the walkways of Pine Wood provide a respite from the rest of the town’s urban flavour.
