Explore the Culture and Wildlife of Iquitos
- We will pick you up from your accommodation (if staying in Iquitos) or the airport and get to show you the city.
- Start with a brief walk to see interesting old buildings like the Main Square, Iron House, ex-hotel Palace, the Iglesia Matriz, interesting river bank view, etc.
- Then, transfer to the north of the city, Bellavista Nanay market port, where we will walk through an interesting little market and see local products while we walk to take a thatched roof, secure and comfortable boat and meet the intersection of the Nanay and Amazon river.
- Afterwards, we will explore the Nanay and Momon Rivers. First, we will visit Pilpintuwasi (butterfly farm) and learn about the cycle of life of butterflies while you get to see exotic animals like Jaguar, anteaters, monkeys, birds and other Amazon wildlife, which were rescued and cared for by volunteers before being released back to their natural habitat.
- Next, explore the Momon River to visit the Bora tribe, an ancient family where you will learn about the Amazon culture, traditions, dance, and souvenirs and interact with them.
- End the tour by going to the Momon River. We can stop to visit Macrodonto, a natural place where we can find different insect species in their natural habitat (Tarántulas, poison frogs, ants, beetles, etc.) and taste the local drink.
