Exploring the beauty of Nagareyama
- You will start the tour from Akagi Shrine, a Shinto shrine with a big twisted straw rope that is considered a barrier driving away bad luck. It weighs 500 kg, and every October, about 300 local people cooperate to make new rope a day. This event is designated as an intangible cultural asset by Nagareyama City.
- Next to the shrine is a Buddhist temple related to a famous Haiku poet, Kobayashi Issa.
- After exploring religious places, you will visit an atelier in a grove, a traditional Japanese house related to Mirin Brewer's family and its dry landscape garden, where the guide will show you how to enjoy the traditional Japanese tea, Maccha.
