The current structure was constructed in 1826 and was opened for service in 1853; it is the biggest Monastery in all of Israel and serves as a centre of Carmelite spirituality throughout the world. We will learn about the unique and distinctive order of the Carmelites who arrived at the Holy Land during the third crusade in 1192.
