Itinerary
-
Walk Down the Streets of Valldemossa
- We will walk through the narrow streets decorated with beautiful pots of plants and flowers. Most of the houses maintain their typical stone façade with Mallorquin blinds. The guide will also take you around the Carthusian monastery, where the famous composer Frédéric Chopin stayed with George Sand during their visit to the town in 1838.
- You will also learn more about how history has shaped the town: Valldemossa is the birthplace of Santa Catalina Tomàs, a peasant girl born in 1531 who became a nun in Palma and was renowned for her humility; you will see her images appearing everywhere in the village.
- Walking around, the guide will help you familiarise yourself with the town's present, such as an excursion to the fine local handicraft shops and fashion shops. Finally, you will learn more about the typical local fare, including almond shakes or hot chocolate with potato biscuits, which Valldemossa is known for.
