Day 01
Borgarfjörður Waterfalls, Heritage and Local Flavours
- Start with a visit to the mythical and magnificent waterfalls of Barnafoss and Hraunfossar in Húsafell.
- Visit the workshop of local artist, Páll Guðmundsson.
- Head on to the ancient, historical, and cultural hot spot of Reykholt in Borgarfjörður.
- Get to know the Icelandic legend and scholar Snorri Sturluson, and get a glimpse of his life in Reykholt in the 12th century.
- Arrive at the delightful little village of Borgarnes, which boasts a history dating back to its settlement.
- Explore the Settlement Center to learn about another Icelander, the Viking Egill Skallagrímsson, settlement, and the Sagas.
- Visit Harpa Concert Hall and learn about interesting sights and places on the drive back.
- Savour a local lunch at a farmer's restaurant near Reykholt and dinner at the Settlement Center in Borgarnes.
Optional: If the sky is clear, get rewarded with the spectacular show of the Aurora dancing in the night sky on the way home.
