I want to start by saying that this was not my first Safari and after going on a tour with Orongai Africa, I would not go on safari again with any other operator. You have to choose Orongai Africa. This was the best experience we could have possibly had. In planning our safari, Anna answered all of my questions promptly and clearly. There were no problems with English language. Also, when I needed an immediate answer to a question and couldn’t wait for an email, I just called Orongai Africa on whats app and they answered right away! If they didn’t know the answer to my question, they would find out and call me back. Our group took over three months to make a final decision on an operator because I made a spreadsheet to compare 5 different top safari companies in terms of price, number of meals provided, parks visited, accommodations, amenities, medical evacuation insurance, WiFi, clean facilities, friendliness, online reviews, among several other things. Orongai Africa came out on top every time. Anna was extremely patient. She adjusted my trip itinerary to fit my schedule, priorities and most importantly price range. I told her what my budget was and she planned the perfect trip for me and my parents. She was also there to brief us the morning of our departure for the parks. You can pay by credit card or direct wire transfer which is convenient. We booked a mid range safari but were upgraded to the luxury accommodations at no extra charge!! As far as facilities, many people worry about restrooms and food. All the restrooms were very clean, with toilet paper and flushing toilets. The lodges were amazing and beautiful. They were very upscale. Most of the lodges gave hairdryers and had pools in addition to the basics like mosquito nets and proper beds. The staff always greeted you at the car with cool towels to wash your face and fresh juices. The food was amazing. An appropriate mixture of western dishes and local dishes. The truck has cold drinks during the day and lodges had stocked bar and 3-5 course dinners at night. On safari there were hot meals every day - breakfast lunch dinner. I did not see any other safari companies serving hot lunches. I’ve done other safaris and always had cold sandwiches and bananas every day for 6 days. I can tell you this gets very repetitive and you grow tired of it. Also, they serve wine at lunch every day, no extra charge. Staff are friendly but do not haggle you. If you need anything at all or have questions, just ask them. Fredy was our guide and I highly recommend him. He greeted us at the airport with champagne and could not have been a more friendly, nice guy. He is also extremely knowledgeable. He knows all the animals and gives the right amount of information as to not overwhelm you but happily offers more if asked and answers any question you may have. His English was perfect and he also speaks fluent French and speaks German! He is an extremely smart man! Also please know that this is a Tanzanian owned company. The profits directly benefit Tanzanians vs many other large safari companies that are based in India or Britain and carry profits out of Tanzania. Im happy to answer any questions about my experience with Orongai Africa! I can not recommend them highly enough!
