Itinerary

Day 1: Maun to Khwai Expedition Camp
- Start your adventure with a self-drive from Maun to Khwai Expedition Camp. Directions are included.
- Check-in time is usually 14:00; check-out time is 10:00 but may be flexible.
- Arrive at camp and receive a welcome drink and refresher towel from camp managers and staff.
- Settle into your tented accommodation.
- If time allows, enjoy high tea.
- Embark on a game drive in the Khwai Reserve.
- Return to camp to freshen up before dinner.
- Enjoy dinner with the sounds of the wild.
Overnight in your tent.
Day 2: Mokoro Trail Safari
- Rise early to the sounds of birdcalls.
- Meet your guide at the lounge for coffee and tea.
- Have a light breakfast.
- Depart on a Mokoro Trail Safari with a river guide for a two-hour excursion in the northeastern Okavango Delta.
- Return to camp for brunch and an afternoon siesta.
- Enjoy high tea at the lounge.
- Embark on an afternoon game drive in one of Africa’s wildest reserves.
- Freshen up on return to camp.
- Savor dinner surrounded by nature.

Day 3: Mokoro Trail Safari
- Wake early to birdcalls and meet your guide for coffee and tea.
- Take a light breakfast.
- Depart again on a Mokoro Trail Safari for two hours with your river guide.
- Return to camp for brunch and rest.
- Enjoy high tea before heading out on an afternoon game drive.
- Freshen up on return to camp.
- Dine while listening to the wilderness.
Overnight in your tent.
Day 4: Conclusion of the Tour
- Rise at dawn and meet your guide for coffee and tea.
- Take your last game drive of the safari.
- Return to your tent to freshen up.
- Gather for brunch at the lounge.
- Conclude your safari and begin your journey back to Maun.

Know Before You Go

A 4x4 vehicle is mandatory due to gravel roads, sandy tracks, and possible mud during the wet season.

Use a high-clearance 4WD with low-range capability.

Fill fuel in Maun, the last reliable fuel stop.

Carry extra fuel, a spare tire, basic tools, and a tire repair kit.

Download offline maps like Maps.me or Tracks4Africa, or bring a GPS device as mobile networks are unreliable.

Drive slowly to avoid wildlife collisions. Animals may cross roads unexpectedly.

Never drive at night due to poor visibility and wildlife presence.

Slightly air down tires for better traction on sand.

The Okavango Delta is a malaria zone. Consult a doctor for prophylaxis and pack DEET-based insect repellent.

Ensure routine vaccinations are up to date, including tetanus and hepatitis A/B.

A yellow fever certificate may be required if transiting through affected countries.

Save camp and local emergency contacts. Have travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage.

Dry season (May to October) brings cool mornings, warm days, and excellent wildlife viewing.

Wet season (November to April) brings lush landscapes and migratory birds. Roads may be muddy and afternoon showers are common.
