Itinerary

1. Day 1: Upington to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

   • Depart Upington at 8:30 AM and travel to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

   • Stop at Norokei Salt Pans to explore the natural salt mine and visit the Khomani San Bushmen to view traditional art.

   • Arrive at Twee Rivieren and settle into your chalet.

   • Enjoy an afternoon game drive in this vast 38,000 square kilometre wilderness area.

   • Spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, numerous antelope species, and over 260 bird species including 20 raptors.

   Overnight at Twee Rivieren Chalets.

2. Day 2: Auob Riverbed to Mata Mata

   • Wake up one hour before the gates open and pack up for departure.

   • Enjoy a morning game drive towards Mata Mata along the dry Auob Riverbed.

   • Search for the famous Kalahari Lion as well as smaller desert inhabitants such as meerkats.

   • Arrive at Mata Mata in the afternoon and check into your chalet.

   • Rest briefly before heading out on another game drive to further explore the area.

   Overnight at Mata Mata Chalets.

3. Day 3: Dune Road to Nossob

   • Wake up one hour before the gates open and pack up for departure.

   • Travel south toward Kamqua and drive along the dune road to Dikbaardskolk.

   • Learn more about the Kalahari Desert and its unique ecology during the scenic drive toward Nossob.

   • Enjoy approximately 4 to 5 hours of slow game viewing along the way.

   Arrive and overnight at Nossob Chalets.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

4. Day 4: Kalahari Trails Experience

   • Enjoy a morning game drive towards Twee Rivieren.

   • Travel a further 30 kilometres to Kalahari Trails.

   • Participate in optional activities such as a sunset drive, stargazing with a telescope, or a guided morning walk.

   Overnight at Kalahari Trails.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

5. Day 5: Augrabies Falls National Park

   • Depart early for Augrabies, travelling approximately 360 kilometres.

   • Visit the Bezalel Wine and Brandy Farm en route.

   • Explore Augrabies Falls National Park and admire the spectacular waterfall.

   • Visit scenic viewpoints including Ararat, Moonrock, Echo Corner, and the Black Mountains.

   Overnight at Augrabies Chalets.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

6. Day 6: Witsand Nature Reserve

   • Begin the day with an early morning hike on the Dassie Nature Trail.

   • Travel to Witsand Nature Reserve via Upington and Groblershoop.

   • Explore the soft white dunes rising up to 80 metres, surrounded by red Kalahari sand, acacia woodland, and the Langeberg Mountain Range.

   • Experience the famous Roaring Sands phenomenon, where the dunes produce a roaring sound under the right moisture conditions.

   • Observe diverse birdlife including Namaqua sandgrouse, sociable weaver, and the pygmy falcon.

   • Spot wildlife such as gemsbok, springbok, red hartebeest, common duiker, and steenbok.

   • Enjoy a short botanical route walk or game drive during the cooler part of the day.

   Overnight at Witsand Chalet.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

7. Day 7: Mokala National Park

   • Travel through Griekwastad and Douglas to Mokala National Park, located 80 kilometres south of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.

   • Explore South Africa’s newest national park, renowned for its conservation of rare and endangered species.

   • Observe wildlife including black and white rhino, Cape buffalo, roan and sable antelope, tsesebe, black and blue wildebeest, giraffe, eland, kudu, gemsbok, red hartebeest, Burchell’s zebra, waterbuck, and mountain reedbuck.

   • Enjoy optional activities such as a sunset drive, bush braai, vulture drive, San rock art drive, or endangered species drive.

   Overnight at Mokala Chalet.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

8. Day 8: Mokala Wildlife Exploration

   • Enjoy several game drives within Mokala National Park, exploring its diverse habitats and wildlife.

   Meals included: Breakfast, Light Lunch, and Dinner.

9. Day 9: Kimberley and Departure

   • Depart for Kimberley.
   • Visit the Anglo-Boer War site to learn about the region’s military history.
   • Explore the Big Hole and the Mine Museum to discover Kimberley’s diamond mining heritage.
   • Transfer to the airport or your guesthouse for drop-off.

   End of tour.
