The itinerary

Day 01

Hanoi to Ha Giang and Ride to Nam Dam Village

  • Once you arrive in Ha Giang City, rent a motorbike (rental fee included in the experience price) and attend a trip and motorbike briefing before setting off to Nam Dam village. You will be accompanied by a local Vietnamese guide who will show you the way. The 45 km drive is stunning, passing through traditional villages, beautiful valleys, and climbing mountain roads.

  • Along the journey, make plenty of stops to take pictures and rest. Stop at the Fairy Bosom Hills in Quan Ba and visit a geopark recognized by UNESCO.

  • Spend the night in Nam Dam village with a host family.

  • You will have the afternoon and evening to explore the village, go for a hike, help your host family prepare dinner, or simply relax. Dinner includes local rice or corn wine, also called "happy water."

2
Day 02

Lung Khuy Cave, Lung Tam Village, and the Extreme North Point

  • After breakfast at the homestay, prepare the bikes and set off for the next part of your adventure.

  • Climb to Lung Khuy Cave at the top of a mountain for amazing views and time to explore the cave.

  • Stop by one of the many picturesque villages you pass through today, called Lung Tam. It is a hemp linen-making village where you will watch how hemp linen is made. Try your hand at rolling out the cloth - you'll be surprised how much balance and strength it takes.

  • After passing through a shortcut over a mountain, stop in Yen Minh for lunch.

  • After lunch, continue on a guest-favourite 50 km ride towards the border between Vietnam and China to check out the Extreme North Point. It is highly recommended to plan your trip so that you pass through Dong Van on a Sunday, when villagers host their weekly highland market. This is not only a chance for locals to buy and sell goods and livestock, but also a highly anticipated weekly social gathering.

  • After a hot steam and a massage, dinner will again include plenty of "happy water" if you are of drinking age and wish to partake.

3
Day 03

Ma Pi Leng Pass, Mau Due, and Du Gia Waterfall

  • Setting off after breakfast, enjoy one of the most soothing parts of the region. Proceed to Ma Pi Leng, considered the most beautiful pass in Vietnam. It is another excellent place to take amazing photos.

  • Stop in Mau Due for a coffee. This is the start of something your guide calls the "road of children." You'll see many minority children playing by the side of the road while their parents work among the rocks nearby.

  • Have lunch in a tiny village called Du Gia and, depending on the weather, go for a swim in a hidden waterfall.

  • After the swim, it is time to return to Ha Giang City to enjoy a farewell dinner with local specialties and get some much-needed rest before the van journey back to Hanoi.

4
Day 04

Return to Hanoi

  • After an early breakfast at the hostel, hop in the van back to Hanoi. The van departs at 7 am and will bring you back to the Old Quarter in Hanoi at around 1:00 or 1:30 pm.
