Meet the local tour guide and go for a village visit.
Listen to the stories of how rice is the staple food in Vietnam and was used as a traditional form of currency.
Visit the rice fields and see how there are two principal ways to grow rice– in the wet paddy or on dry hill sides.
Meet the villagers and observe how they plough the paddy twice, with the help of water and buffalo.
Smooth out the paddy so that it is absolutely flat and therefore, evenly moist.
Dig and fertilize rice seedling beds along one side of the field and let the rice germinate. The villagers will explain the entire process of how they dry it, process it and send it to the markets later.
