Hue Highlights by Dragon Boat, Citadel, Tombs, and Market
- Start the tour at 8 am with pick-up from your hotel.
- Take a private dragon boat along the Perfume River to visit the 400-year-old Thiên Mụ Pagoda, which dates back to 1601 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many stories and myths about the pagoda shared by the locals of Kim Long village.
- Travel by private car to the Citadel, the Royal City, and the Forbidden City, a complex of around 100 monuments spread across 520 hectares from the Nguyễn dynasty. It was the workplace and residence of 13 emperors, as well as concubines and eunuchs.
- Walk to the Huế Royal Antique Museum, which houses many authentic and valuable items from the emperors of the Nguyễn dynasty.
- Visit Đông Ba Market, the biggest market in Huế city, which stays open from 4 am to 6 pm.
- Have lunch at a local food restaurant in Huế.
- Continue to the tomb of Emperor Minh Mạng, the second emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty, who had 600 concubines, 142 children, and 78 sons.
- Take a private car to visit the tomb of Emperor Khải Định, the 12th emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty. This beautiful tomb is bound to leave you awestruck.
- Head to the incense-making village, where you can learn how to make incense by hand with local people. If you do well, they would offer you a job there, with pay of two dollars per hour.
Finish the tour around 5 pm.
