The itinerary

1
Day 01

Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

  • After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, meet our company representative and your Uganda safari guide, who will transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park via Masindi.

  • En route, visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided nature walk to see the rhinos. Proceed for lunch in Masindi town.

  • Enter the park through the Kichumbanyobo Gate, and upon arrival, visit the Top of the Falls, where the park derives its name.

  • At the top of the falls, you will see water exploding through a narrow gorge and flowing down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with various animals and bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at Red Chilli Campsite/Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge/Nile Safari Camp.

2
Day 02

Morning Game Drive and Nile Lunch Cruise

  • After breakfast, set out for a morning game drive in the northern sector of the park with your local tour guide. Look out for some of the Big Five animals, such as lions, elephants, and buffaloes, and if you are lucky, you may also see leopards. You may also spot Rothschild giraffes, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and other antelopes.

  • Return for lunch, and in the afternoon, experience a 3-hour lunch cruise along the Nile. Get close to the bottom of the falls and, en route, see a variety of hippos, crocodiles, and many other animals along the riverbanks. If you are lucky, you can also spot the rare shoebill stork and a variety of other bird species in the area.

Dinner and overnight stay at Red Chilli Campsite/Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge/Nile Safari Camp.

Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

  • After breakfast, head to the park headquarters at Kanyachu for a chimpanzee trekking briefing by the park rangers. After this, you will be accompanied by a ranger guide into the forest to search for the chimpanzees, which are man's closest friends and cousins. Kibale Forest is not only home to the chimps but also to 12 other species of primates, including the red colobus, L'hoest's monkeys, vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons, and more. You will experience how the chimps feed and interact with each other.

  • Return to your lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon set out for a nature walk in Bigodi Swamp. Here, you will enjoy various bird species as well as other primates. Bigodi is considered a birdwatcher's paradise because of the very many bird species that can be viewed from the swamp.

This will give you the opportunity to view wildlife up close, such as hippos huffing and spraying mere feet away from the boat, while buffaloes linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds, including pink-backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle-billed storks, and many others.
