Budget safari to Kidepo Valley National, Karamoja Region & Murchison in Uganda. Karamoja is one of the least touristic and most interesting regions of Uganda, there are many things to see, no tourists (or very few), and it is also an amazing region to discover authentic ways of living that have changed very little over the last decades! you will end the trip with a 2-day safari in Kidepo Valley National Park and its beautiful landscapes since the park is surrounded by mountains.

  • DAY 1: Arrival and Transfer to you Hotel in Entebbe expand_more
    • Whatever time you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and warmly welcomed by a driver guide from Trek Rwenzori Tours. The guide will brief you and then transfer you to the hotel in Entebbe or Kampala.

  • DAY 2: Transfer the Sipi Falls and do the Coffee Tour expand_more
    • Enjoy breakfast at 8:00 am, then depart to Sipi Falls via Mbale, arrive at 1:30 pm, check-in at your hotel, then order for lunch, and after lunch, take a rest before heading for a coffee tour.
    • At 4:30 p.m., you will start a walk to trace the story of coffee from seed to cup. Sipi Falls Arabica Coffee is some of the finest in the world. Meet local farmers to tour their plantations and learn about the lifecycle of the crop and their role in the process.
    • Visit and tour the local processing plant to see the selected green beans before shipment. Finally learn the traditional art of roasting your own coffee and enjoy your own cup. At 6:30 pm, you will return to the hotel for a shower and dinner.
    • Accommodation: Kasa Lodge or Sipi Lodge overnight.
  • DAY 3: Hiking Sipi Falls and Transfer to Moroto town expand_more
    • After your delicious breakfast at 8:00 am, you will start the walk to the waterfalls, with stunning views down to the plains, giving you an awesome adventure and curiosity.
    • You will reach the Chebonet Waterfalls, the second-highest waterfall after the stunning Sipi Falls, which is 100 meters high against the 94-meter Chebonet waterfalls.
    • The hanging valleys on both sides of the escarpment offer scenic, pictorial views and cool breezes from the plains.
    • The outwinding trails passing through the community give you a tranquil adventure and make you feel like a home away from home. After 3-4 hours of this unique and exciting experience of Sipi Falls, your guide will take you back to the hotel, and then you will start the Journey towards Kidepo Valley National Park. For this day you will stay in Moroto town closer to Kidepo park

  • DAY 4: Visit the traditional Karamajong village, called Manyatta expand_more
    • Then we visit the Karamoja historic museum. In the afternoon, we go to the very end of the Karamoja region, to the town of Kaabong. We are now in one of the most remote places in Uganda! We will sleep in a budget hotel in Kaabong.

  • DAY 5: Climb up Mount Morungole to meet the Ik people, one of the smallest ethnic groups of Uganda expand_more
    • The Ik language is a Nilo-Saharan language! The Ik people lived in Kidepo Park before it was created. You will hear their story and learn more about their life during the evening. We stay with them around the campfire, or we hike to the mount Murongole and return to the hotel in the evening.

  • DAY 6: Climb down Mount Morungole and head to Kidepo expand_more
    • You will spend the rest of the day on a great game drive and sleep in budget accommodations inside the park called Kidepo Savannah Lodge-Safari Tent.
  • DAY 7: Second day of game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park expand_more
    • You will sleep inside the park again at Kidepo Savannah Lodge—Safari tent to enjoy a quiet number of wildlife and stunning views of the park. 
  • DAY 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls from Kidepo Valley Park expand_more
    •  On this day, you will meet your guide at the hotel at 8:00 am and start the journey to Murchison Falls via the amazing and beautiful landscapes of the northeast of Uganda and arrive in the afternoon. You will decide to do an evening game drive at Murchison Falls National Park or relax at the hotel.

    Overnight is at Tilenga safari lodge, Bwana tembo safari camp or Red chill rest camp.

  • DAY 9: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat tour expand_more
    • If you sleep in the southern park at 6:00 am, you will Cross over on the bridge to the north bank of the Nile, taking along a packed breakfast from Red Chill Rest Camp, a 5-hour game drive around Common Wealthy Track, Victoria, Rearch1 and Research 11, which stretch between the Victoria and Albert Niles, and down to the Nile-Lake Albert Delta.
    • Most of the park’s game and birdlife can be seen from here. We can’t guarantee that you will see all the animals, but because we spend a quiet amount of time in the park on the game drive, we promise you will see a lot of wildlife. At 11:00, Cross back to the south bank and have a hot lunch at RED CHILL REST CAMP.
    • At 14:00 pm, depart for a 3-hour boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of the Falls. Along the way, you will observe a wide variety of birds and wildlife, including numerous hippos and crocodiles, as well as breathtaking scenery.
    • Cold beverages are available during the boat tour at your own cost. You will arrive at Big Falls at 4:00 p.m. and then take a guided walk around the thunderous Murchison Falls. A mini-hike to view the sister falls, Uhuru, which was created in 1962 when the river burst its banks, is optional.
    • At 17:00 pm, your driver/guide will meet you off the fall and take you back to the hotel
  • DAY 10: Transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Entebbe International Airport expand_more
    • Enjoy an early morning breakfast. Then, meet your driver guide and hit the road to Entebbe or Kampala via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking. You will arrive at Rhino at 9:00 a.m. and be briefed and set off at 9:30 a.m. for tracking.
    • You will spend 2 hours and return at 12:30 am, then proceed to Kabalega dinner restaurant for early lunch; after lunch, proceed to Entebbe town via Kampala.

    Overnight is at Vivia guest house or Blue Monkey.

  • DAY 11: Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home expand_more
    • Depending on your flight time, your guide driver will be available to transfer you to the airport to catch you back home.

What to bring
  • A photocopy of your passport, including the visa page; torch; malaria prophylaxis; insect repellent; sturdy walking shoes and long trousers for hiking, 

  • Binoculars, camera equipment, plenty of drinking water/snacks, any other personal effects, and light-coloured clothing (NB: Tsetse flies are in the park, and they are attracted to blue or dark colours).
