Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival

   • Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, and you will meet with your driver/guide. He will brief you about the five days of Mount Sabinyo hiking in Mgahinga National Park, and then the driver will transfer you to your hotel, where you will have time to relax while enjoying the cool breeze from the Lake. Later have dinner and overnight.

2. Day 2: Mgahinga National Park

   • After an early healthy, delicious breakfast, embark on a 10 hours drive to Mgahinga National Park. You will have a stopover at the equator, One of the interesting places to visit while in Uganda (the imaginary line that cuts Earth into the northern and southern hemispheres). 
   • Proceed with the journey. The journey offers breathtaking views and green vegetation plantations. Have en route meals in Mbarara; proceed with an adventurous, amazing and entertaining journey while enjoying the beauty of Pearl Africa (Uganda). You will reach the park in the evening, check in at the hotel, have dinner and overnight.

3. Day 3: Gorilla and Golden Monkey tracking

   • After an early morning breakfast, pack your lunch and transfer to park headquarters for briefing. After a briefing from your ranger guide, begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, which can take a couple of hours or a whole day, depending on the location of the apes. 
   • Watch for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black-fronted duikers and bushbucks. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat, rest, play and bond with their young. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the bamboo forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. After a well-earned trip to the gorillas, you will drive back to your lodge for an overnight. You can rest your tired legs and get a restorative massage!

4. Day 4: Hiking Mount Sabinyo

   • After an early morning breakfast, pack your lunch and transfer to park headquarters for briefing. The guide and rangers will let you know what to expect, the history of the mountain and what to carry along. After completing the briefing, you will start by passing through a flat area with several swamps. You ascend to an area with thick vegetation zones for the first 2390 to 2800 meters. This area consists mainly of bamboo and is a favourite habitat of golden monkeys. Apart from the monkeys, you may encounter mountain gorillas, elephants and buffaloes around this area.
   • The beauty about climbing to the summit of Mount Sabinyo is that you get to be in three countries (Uganda, Rwanda and Congo) simultaneously while having some of the best views you will ever have – weather permitting. From the summit, you can see the beautiful Lake Kivu in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. You can also see Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda, the Rwenzori ranges of mountains in Uganda, six mountains of the Virunga region and countless other features
   • Climbing the extinct volcano is done in the south western region of Uganda and consists of climbing 3 peaks. Hiking Sabinyo takes us through muddy trails, often on wooden ladders, with expectations of patchy rain and clearly as you get to the beautiful view of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. 5. Day 5: Entebbe

   • Have breakfast, chill and relax and check out from the hotel. Embark on your return journey back to Kampala with unforgettable memories and experiences from your adventurous safari; you will say your last goodbyes to the pearl of Africa.
