- Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location to begin with your quad tour.
Take this is great opportunity to get in touch with the daily village life and explore the northern part in a sportive way.
Visit the Natural Turtle Aquarium and drive quad through rural villages.
Explore Portuguese ruins dating back to the sixteenth century and swim in a tidal, half fresh half salt, clear water cave if wished.
Try your hand at being a blacksmith (local style) and adventure through recently discovered stunning coral caves filled with stalagmite and stalactite crystal rocks.
Discover the Mnarani Turtle Conservation Project, a local NGO that provides shelter and protection to Hawksbill Turtles as well as the endangered Green Turtles. The aquarium itself is a natural pool carved out from the coral bedrock by the erosion of millions of waves crashing against the shore. The water rises and falls with the tides, providing a natural environment for its inhabitants.
If you have ever wondered how the lovely photogenic dhows (traditional wooden sailing boats) are being built, you have come to the right place. Nungwi’s dhow builders are famous for their craft, and you can watch them at work not far from the ocean.
See dhows in all phases of their construction and learn about the whole process, from the sourcing of the wood, the joints used, to the rituals of launching a new dhow.
