Itinerary

1. Day 1: Rufiji river boat safari experience

   • This midrange safari experience will start with Duteni picking you up from the Dar Es Salaam Ferry (if coming from Zanzibar), Dar Es Salaam International Airport, or a Dar Es Salaam area hotel.
   • Transfer you to Nyerere National Park from Dar es Salaam (About a 4-5 hour drive).
   • Arrive at Nyerere National Park, check into the lodge outside the park, and have lunch and rest.
   • You will have your briefing with guide and then leave for your river boat safari around 4pm.
   • You will enjoy a sundowner (if possible) on a sandbar on the Rufiji River.
   • We will then drive you back to hotel/camp for dinner, rest and overnight stay.

2. Day 2: Awaken Your Senses: Full Day Game Drive

   • You will depart early for an exciting full-day safari with packed lunch out in the bush.
   • This is your chance to get closer to nature and the majestic wild animals. You have a pretty good chance of seeing giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, impalas, warthogs, zebras, cape buffaloes, kudus & countless other wild animals and birds. With a bit of luck, you might be able to encounter lions, leopards etc.
   • Your game drive will end early evening. You may see more animals as you head back to your hotel/camp.

3. Day 3: Smell the Nature - Another full day game drive

   • Today you will start early in the morning. It will be another day of exciting experiences
   • After breakfast, your guide will take you on a fantastic game drive, searching for the Big 4 and enjoying the majestic scenery of Nyerere National Park
   • You have the option to swim in a natural hot spring while on your game drive (no extra charge)
   • You will have a hot lunch in the bush and return in time for dinner at your lodge.

4. Day 4: The Culture, the People and the most thrilling safari adventure - the Night Safari

   • You will be taken for a village(s) tour this morning. The tour offers you a memorable opportunity to mingle with the villagers who have lived in the area for generations and learn about their history, culture, traditions and way of life
   • Alternatively, rather than doing a village tour, you could go for one or more (if time allows) of our other popular local experiences (a small surcharge may apply)
   • You will then stop for lunch
   • Early evening we will pick you up and take you to an experience that will leave a lasting impression on you…our in-high-demand Night Safari! During the night safari, you will see lots of nocturnal animals, rodents, birds and a variety of mammals you don’t usually see during the day. Our highly skilled safari guides take you on a wild yet safe, meticulous ride, searching and spotting all the unique wildlife & activities that happen in the wild after sunset. The night safari will last for about 4 hours.

5. Day 5: Get even closer to the wild side: A Walking Safari

   • The day will start early, around 6 or 7 AM
   • You can choose to have your breakfast before or after the walk. Coffee and biscuits will be offered before the walk
   • With a guide and an armed guard, you will leave to start your walking safari
   • You have nothing to worry about as our team is very experienced in handling walking safaris
   • Enjoy your exhilarating walk in the bush among the majestic animals
   • The walking safari will last for approximately 2 hours
   • Once the walk is over, you will return to your hotel for freshening up and breakfast
   • You will, after that, depart for Dar Es Salaam by private transportation.
