Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania and Transfer to Arusha

   • Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet your Overland Safaris driver guide.
   • Receive assistance with customs and immigration formalities.
   • Drive to Arusha through scenic surroundings.
   • Check in at Masailand Safari Lodge and relax after the journey.

2. Day 2: Game Drive in Tarangire National Park

   • Travel to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive.
   • Observe large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffaloes near the Tarangire River.
   • Spot predators such as lions and leopards within the park.
   • Enjoy sweeping views across the plains from a scenic lookout area within the park.

3. Day 3: Journey to Serengeti National Park with Game Drive

   • Depart for Serengeti National Park through changing landscapes.
   • Visit Olduvai Gorge and explore the museum showcasing early human history and archaeological discoveries.
   • Drive into the Serengeti plains after lunch and begin afternoon game viewing.
   • Observe resident wildlife including giraffes, buffaloes and elephants.
   • Witness large predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards and, in season, encounter the Great Migration across the plains.

4. Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

   • Start early for a full day of wildlife exploration in the Serengeti.
   • Visit hippo pools and observe crocodiles sharing the water.
   • Watch large prides of lions and encounter migrating wildebeest and zebras depending on the season.
   • Travel across open plains and explore kopjes that shelter a wide variety of wildlife.
   • Spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and, if fortunate, elusive leopards and cheetahs along with diverse birdlife.

5. Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

   • Begin the day with a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, observing wildlife across the vast plains.
   • Continue exploring the park during a final game drive, focusing on predator sightings and migrating herds.
   • Depart Serengeti National Park in the afternoon and travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
   • Ascend to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy scenic views of the surrounding highlands.
   • Settle in for an overnight stay near the Ngorongoro Crater rim after dinner.

6. Day 6: Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater

   • Start the day with an early morning game drive heading towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
   • Learn about the unique conservation approach that supports wildlife alongside the local Masai people and their grazing traditions.
   • Observe aspects of Masai daily life while travelling through this shared cultural and natural landscape.

   • Drive along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and look down onto herds of wildebeest and buffalo.
   • Descend into the crater to explore its wildlife rich floor protected by steep crater walls.

   • Travel back in the late afternoon to the tented camp area after completing the game drive.

7. Day 7: Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park

   • Depart from the lodge and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a scenic wildlife experience.
   • Explore one of Tanzania’s most diverse reserves despite its compact size.
   • Observe Lake Manyara covering two thirds of the park with the Great Rift Valley escarpment as a dramatic backdrop.
   • Drive through groundwater forest, open grasslands, soda lake shores and woodland habitats.
   • Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by hot springs, grassy clearings and dense vegetation.
   • Discover a birding paradise with more than 350 bird species across the park.
   • Search for the elusive and famous tree climbing lions during the game drive.
   • Return in the late afternoon after completing the safari experience.

8. Day 8: Cultural Tour in Mto wa Mbu and Return to Arusha

   • Visit traditional Maasai bomas in Mto Wa Mbu and gain insight into local community life.
   • Explore village homes and observe exquisite crafts created by the many tribes living in the area.
   • Meet local residents and learn about banana beer preparation and its cultural importance.
   • Discover Makonde woodcarvings and traditional tribal painting techniques.
   • Gain an introduction to everyday African life through cultural interaction and storytelling.
   • Drive back to Arusha in the afternoon after completing the cultural visit.

9. Day 9: Arusha to Dar es Salaam

   • Start the day with breakfast at the hotel in Arusha.
   • Drive to Kilimanjaro Airport for the scheduled flight to Dar Es Salaam.
   • Arrive at Dar Es Salaam International Airport and proceed into the city.
   • Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring or relaxing at your own pace.

10. Day 10: Departure from Dar es Salaam

    • Start the day with an early morning breakfast or a packed breakfast box.
    • Proceed to Dar Es Salaam International Airport for the international departure.
    • Complete departure formalities and prepare for the flight back home.
