Day 1: Trek from Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
- Drive approximately 50 minutes to Machame Gate for registration formalities.
Transfer through scenic villages, coffee farms, and banana plantations to reach Umbwe Gate.
Begin the trek on a forestry track that ascends steeply through dense rainforest.
Climb along a narrow ridge nestled between two rivers and surrounded by towering trees.
Arrive at Umbwe Camp, located in a serene forest setting with thick undergrowth.

Day 2: Hike from Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp
- Follow a steeper, rockier trail with sparse undergrowth and moss-covered trees.
Ascend through increasingly open terrain with occasional views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Flatten out upon entering Barranco Valley, a dramatic landscape of highland moorland.
Descend slightly from Umbwe Ridge to reach Barranco Camp, nestled near giant Senecios.

Day 3: Climb from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
- Begin by descending into a deep ravine and crossing the base of the Great Barranco Wall.
Climb the steep, non-technical wall, gaining nearly 900 feet in elevation.
Traverse a series of ridges and valleys before descending into Karanga Valley.
Make a final steep ascent to Karanga Camp, located on a rocky slope.
Use this shorter day to aid acclimatization and rest for the days ahead.

Day 4: Ascend from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Depart Karanga and connect with the Mweka Trail at the junction.
Continue climbing through increasingly rocky terrain to reach Barafu Camp.
Complete the Southern Circuit, offering panoramic views of the summit.
Rest and enjoy an early dinner while taking in views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.

Day 5: Summit from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, then Descend to Mweka Camp
- Wake around midnight and begin the final summit push under the stars.
Climb through steep scree in cold, windy conditions with frequent breaks.
Reach Stella Point (5,730 meters) and witness a breathtaking sunrise over Mawenzi.
Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa.
Celebrate the accomplishment and take photos before beginning the descent.
Descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest and lunch.
Continue down a steep, rocky trail to Mweka Camp, located in the upper forest zone.
Enjoy a final dinner and overnight stay on the mountain.

Day 6: Descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Return to Hotel
- Hike down through lush rainforest paths to reach Mweka Gate.
Collect summit certificates as a token of your achievement.
Meet your vehicle at Mweka Village and drive back to your hotel in Moshi.
Celebrate the successful completion of your Kilimanjaro trek.
