5-Day Northern Tanzania Wildlife & Crater Expedition
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport – Serval Wildlife – Arusha:
Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport in the afternoon and meet your safari guide. Embark on a short trip to the Serval area, a scenic reserve where you can enjoy your first encounter with Tanzanian wildlife. Look out for giraffes, zebras, impalas, and a variety of bird species roaming the savannah. The landscapes feature open plains dotted with acacia trees and stunning views of Mount Meru in the distance, making it a photographer’s delight. After the wildlife excursion, drive to Arusha for an overnight stay at The African Tulip Hotel, preparing for the safari adventure ahead.- Main destination: Serval Wildlife & Arusha Town

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Full Day Guided Game Drive:
Depart after breakfast for Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Spend the day on game drives, spotting lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, and diverse birdlife. The park’s mix of riverine forests and open plains offers excellent wildlife viewing, especially along the Tarangire River. In the late afternoon, enjoy the sunset over the savannah before retiring to Tarangire Sopa Lodge.- Main destination: Tarangire National Park

Day 3: Tarangire National Park – Serengeti National Park:
Begin the day with an early morning game drive en-route in Tarangire National Park, when wildlife is most active and the soft morning light highlights the park’s dramatic scenery. Tarangire is famous for its vast savannahs dotted with ancient baobab trees and the life-giving Tarangire River, which attracts large herds of elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and antelope. Predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are often seen along the riverbanks, while bird lovers enjoy sightings of colorful resident and migratory species. After the game drive, depart towards Serengeti National Park, passing through the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where rolling highlands, volcanic landscapes, and Maasai pastoral life create a striking contrast of nature and culture. Upon arrival in the Serengeti, enjoy an afternoon game drive across endless open plains that stretch to the horizon. The Serengeti is renowned for its rich wildlife density, including the Big Five, large prides of lions, hyenas, and cheetahs, as well as vast herds of wildebeest and zebras depending on the season. Day 4: Serengeti Park (Masai Boma Visits) Ngorongoro Conservation Area:
Enjoy a full day exploring the iconic Serengeti National Park, renowned for its endless savannahs and extraordinary wildlife density. As you traverse the vast plains, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration (seasonal), with thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving in search of fresh grazing, often followed closely by predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. The park is also home to large herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, buffaloes, and a variety of antelopes, alongside rich birdlife. The ever-changing landscapes—open grasslands, rocky kopjes, winding rivers, and riverine forests—offer outstanding photography and unforgettable game viewing experiences. In the late afternoon, drive toward the Ngorongoro Highlands, enjoying scenic views along the way. En route, visit a traditional Maasai Boma within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to learn about the Maasai people’s culture, customs, traditional houses, dances, and way of life that has coexisted with wildlife for generations. Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Kilimanjaro International Airport:
Begin your day with a memorable final game drive in the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife sanctuaries. Descend onto the crater floor as the morning light reveals a rich concentration of wildlife, including prides of lions, large herds of wildebeest and zebras, buffaloes, hippos, and a wide variety of birdlife. With some luck, you may also spot the rare and endangered black rhino grazing on the open plains. The crater’s dramatic landscapes—lush grasslands, acacia forests, and shimmering soda lakes—provide exceptional photography opportunities and a fitting finale to your safari experience. After the game drive, ascend from the crater and begin your scenic journey back toward Kilimanjaro International Airport. The drive takes you through the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands, passing rolling hills, farmlands, and traditional Maasai villages, offering a glimpse into local life and culture along the way.
