Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arusha to Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut (1387 m to 1500 m)

   • Drive from Arusha to Momela Gate in the company of your tour guide. 
   • Register yourself at the Gate and begin the hiking tour.
   • See the wild animals, including elephants, zebras, giraffe, monkeys, antelope, and elephants, along the route.

   Dinner and overnight night at Miriakamba Hut.

   The distance covered will be 10 km, and the Hiking Time will be around 4-6 hours.

2. Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to the Saddle Hut (2514 m to 3570 m)

   • Enjoy the walk from Miriakamba Hut to the saddle below Little Meru. 
   • Walk slowly along the ridge for a spectacular view of the Meru Crater and the impressive Ash Cone. 
   • Make a short climb to Saddle Point (3,820m) after lunch for superb views just before sunset.

   Dinner and overnight night at Saddle Hut

   The distance covered will be 8 km, and the Hiking Time will be around 3-5 hours.

3. Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit to Miriakamba Hut (3570 m to 4565m to 2514m)

   • Start early at around 1:30 a.m. to climb steeply to Rhino Point (3,800 m.) and on to Cobra Point (4350m). 
   • Reach the summit (4,566 m) on time for sunrise. There is a possibility to see Kilimanjaro Peak above the clouds. Start the final part of the climb, along a spectacular narrow ridgeline between the sheer inner cliffs and the crater's sloping outer wall.
   • Take a short rest and brunch at Saddle Hut before continuing the descent to the Miriakamba Huts.

   The ascent will be 5 km, and the descent will be 13 km. Hiking Time will be around 10 – 12 hours.

4. Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momela gate to Arusha (2514 m to 1500 m to 1387 m)

   • Take a short and descend fastly through the open grasslands and mixed forests.
   • Admire the wildlife before reaching Momella Gate in the late morning. 
   • Transfer from Momella Gate to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi.
   • The distance covered will be 10 km, and the Hiking time will be around 2-4 hours.
