On this safari, you will see the Big 5: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes. Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), which caters to domestic flights, you will be met by a representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. Your overnight stay will be at the Lodge in Arusha, Tanzania. There is free Wi-Fi in the café, restaurant, and bar, as well as a swimming pool and conference room in a leafy residential area close to the town center. It's around a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive to the clock tower roundabout, awaiting the start of your adventure safari the following day.
-
Day 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park
An early breakfast will be served at the lodge, and after that, you will depart for Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it. This 'river of warthogs' is the region's only water source for wildlife during the dry season. In places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass and acacia woodlands.
The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. Various predators, including lions and leopards, closely follow these animals. More bird-breeding species are found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet. Tarangire is the best place to see these gentle giants in their natural habitat, from the adorable calves to the intimidating bulls. After a packed lunch and an extensive game drive, you will head to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
-
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and on to Serengeti National Park with a game-viewing drive route. Serengeti is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. Unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous.
Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November. They then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can hold them back. Serengeti is indeed home to the legendary great wildebeest migration. The Serengeti is where safari-goers come for game drives and to experience an African safari truly. Late in the afternoon, drive to the campsite for dinner and your overnight.
-
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
The entire day is set aside for more game drives in the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is the habitat for abundant wildlife, such as impalas, buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos. Still, it is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebras and wildebeests. The rainfall determines the animals’ trek and varies from year to year. In November and December, the animals move from the northern region, dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south Serengeti. They return to the north from April to June during the long rainy season.
Apart from the migrating herds, you might have the chance to see predators, such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions, always following close by. After an unforgettable day, the Serengeti National Park is where safari-goers come to truly experience an African safari. Late in the afternoon, return to the campsite for meals and your overnight stay.
-
Day 5: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast, you will head out for another game drive in the Serengeti. You might be able to spot the "Big Five"—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard—before embarking on your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely through the unfenced reserves, offering an uninterrupted game-viewing experience.
Arriving at the crater's edge, you will first glimpse what awaits you the following day—glistening streams, open grassland and an infinite amount of animals. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. You will spend the night at Simba Campsite directly on the crater's edge, with the orange glow of sunset surrounding you as you drift off to sleep. Dinner and your overnight stay are at your campsite.
-
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game-viewing drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most famous sites and is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa. It is sometimes described as an Eighth Wonder of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Crater has achieved world-renowned status, attracting an ever-increasing number of visitors yearly. You are unlikely to escape other vehicles here but are guaranteed excellent wildlife viewing in a mind-blowing environment.
There is nowhere else in Africa quite like Ngorongoro! One of the best places in the country to see the endangered black rhinoceros. The park is home and is a perfect place to see lions and Cape buffalo, herds of wildebeest, and zebras at a close range year-round. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. Late in the afternoon, drive to Migombani Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
-
Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park - Departure
After breakfast, you will drive to your final destination on this epic safari- Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small but diverse park is 120 km west of Arusha. The park's namesake is a shallow alkaline lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On your exploration of the park, you will see giant giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its various landscapes, a tropical forest, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. After an extended game drive, you'll drive back to Arusha.
