Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
- Arrive at Kigali International Airport.
- Meet your representative and transfer to The Retreat by Heaven.
- Evening at leisure to relax and prepare.
Day 2: Journey to Volcanoes National Park
- Scenic three-hour drive north to Volcanoes National Park.
- Arrive at One&Only Gorilla’s Nest.
- Afternoon free to settle in and enjoy the lodge.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking
- Morning trek to track golden monkeys.
- Afternoon at leisure or optional local exploration.
Day 4: First Gorilla Trek
- Early breakfast followed by gorilla trekking with ranger.
- Spend one hour observing a habituated gorilla family.
- Return for lunch and spa treatments at the lodge.
Day 5: Second Gorilla Trek
- Second gorilla trek for a new experience with a different family.
- Afternoon free for relaxation at the lodge.
Day 6: Return to Kigali
- Leisurely breakfast.
- Scenic drive back to Kigali.
Overnight at The Retreat by Heaven with optional city tour & Genocide Memorial visit.
Day 7: Cross-Border to the Serengeti

- Flight to Tanzania with immigration stop.

Day 8: Following the Migration
- Morning and afternoon game drives focused on the Great Migration.
- Camp positioned close to migrating herds.
Day 9: Full Day in the Serengeti
- Full-day exploration with picnic lunch in the bush.
- Search for wildebeest, zebra, predators, and more.
Day 10: Journey to Ngorongoro Crater
- Transfer from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Know Before You Go

Gorilla Trekking Permits: Highly regulated and must be booked in advance, cost included in your package, trekking can be strenuous and requires reasonable fitness.

Luggage: Strict 15 kg/33 lbs weight limit on internal flights in Rwanda and Tanzania, soft-sided bags mandatory.

Health: Consult your doctor or travel clinic for vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis, Yellow Fever certificate may be required.

Visas: Check requirements for both Rwanda and Tanzania based on nationality.

Tipping: Customary for guides and lodge staff, guidance provided by your guides.

Currency: Rwandan Franc (RWF) and Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) are local currencies, US Dollars widely accepted, small denominations useful for tips and small purchases.

What To Bring

Clothing: Pack in layers with lightweight, neutral colours for game drives; a warm fleece or jacket for cool mornings, evenings, and high altitudes; and a waterproof jacket for the rainy season

Footwear: Sturdy, comfortable hiking boots for gorilla trekking and lighter shoes for evenings and travel

Sun & Insect Protection: Wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, and insect repellent with DEET

Electronics: Camera with spare batteries and memory cards, binoculars, universal power adapter, and power bank

Health: Personal first-aid kit, prescription medications, and a copy of vaccination records

Other: Small backpack for day trips, headlamp, and a copy of passport and flight details
