Itinerary
-
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
First stop is Arusha for any last-minute purchases before heading off to the safari.
Head to Lake Manyara, which offers breathtaking views and a large variety of natural habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. This small park can support a large number of animal species and incredible birdlife. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons in the world. The lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing.
Get dinner and stay overnight at Ngorongoro Kudu Lodge.
-
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Get breakfast and depart for Serengeti National Park via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Reach the heart of African wildlife- the Serengeti National Park. Head to the central park area known as Seronera- one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this park.
Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park.
Have dinner and stay overnight at Serengeti Seronera campsite.
-
Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Leave for an early morning game drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Stop at Olduvai Gorge, boasting a history dating back to the dawn of time. This was the site where anthropologists Dr Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution.
Late afternoon drive to Ngorongoro Simba Campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
-
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Catch an early breakfast before you descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater. Ngorongoro conservation area supports a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopards.
Visit Lake Magadi- a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of this crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can be seen here.
Take on a late afternoon drive to Arusha for dinner.
Stay in Arusha overnight or take a flight.
