Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour
- Located about 30-40 minutes outside of Moshi, Materuni Waterfalls offer a perfect excursion for those with limited time but a desire to experience the natural beauty of this region of Tanzania. The falls are impressive, standing at 150 meters high, and are certainly a sight worth seeing.
- From Materuni Village, we will embark on a 30-40 minute walk to the waterfall. This walk is fascinating in itself, as you will encounter smaller waterfalls and numerous waterways. These are part of the irrigation system used by local farmers who cultivate coffee, bananas, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.
- Materuni village is renowned for producing perishable goods like yam, sugar, maize, and beans. However, coffee is the primary crop grown here. During your visit to the village, you'll learn about the entire coffee production process, from cultivation to the final steaming cup.
- You will have the opportunity to pick your own coffee, remove the husk, and, using previously dried beans, crush them into granules. After experiencing the full coffee production cycle, you'll get to enjoy a cup of fresh coffee, made from your own efforts.
- Additionally, you will gain insight into the lifestyle of the Chagga tribe, including their home set-up, cooking and eating habits, and animal rearing practices.
