Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater

   • Depart for Ngorongoro Crater from the hotel with a picnic lunch.
     • The Ngorongoro Crater is often called Africa's Garden of Eden and one of the Natural Wonders of the World. 
   • Descend 2000ft down the crater in a 4-wheel vehicle.
   • Explore the crater and its diverse wildlife.
     • The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania's ecosystem.
     • The crater is a caldera, measures 22.5 km across, and the rim walls stand 600m high.
     • The crater houses 30,000 animals and many amazing birds, rarely moving from the area due to water availability through wet and dry seasons.
   • Ascend from the crater and drive to your lodge on a crater rim.
   • Enjoy breathtaking views from within the crater and from the rim.
   • Return to the lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

2. Day 2: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park

   • Transfer to Serengeti North with a guide from your lodge or camp after breakfast.
   • Enjoy a full-day game drive to view the great migration and other resident wildlife, including the "Big Five" (lion, African leopard, African elephant, Cape buffalo, and black rhinoceros), named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters.
   • Have a sumptuous buffet lunch within the Serengeti National Park.
   • Get ready for fantastic sights and natural scenery.
     • The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species.
     • More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.
     • African leopards are reclusive predators, commonly seen in the Seronera region, but are present throughout the national park with a population of around 1,000.
   • Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

3. Day 3: Serengeti National Park (North Mara)

   • Have breakfast at the camp.
   • Depart with a picnic lunch for a game drive to view the great migration.
   • Visit the Wagakuria area, where resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high, including a pride of lions up to 30 strong.
     • From August to October, the area turns into a wildlife paradise.
   • Witness the Mara River, a key feature of the area, where it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the river north and south.
   • Enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch within the Serengeti National Park.
   • Remember that finding a river crossing is complicated and sometimes a matter of luck.

4. Day 4: Serengeti National Park (North Mara)

   • Depart for a full day of game drive at the Mara River, viewing the great migration river crossing.
   • Witness river crossings at Kogatende, which occur daily in August as the mega herd settles into the area.
   • Enjoy superb game viewing from August to October, with river crossings guaranteed daily.
     •  There is no distinct movement as the herds tend to cross back and forth over the river, following the rains and subsequent fresh grasses.
     • It is uncommon to see different herds crossing in different directions on the same day.
   • Return to the camp in the evening for a bonfire, dinner, and overnight stay.

5. Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Arusha

   • Have breakfast at the camp.
   • Depart for a good morning game drive.
   • Transfer to Kogatende Airstrip in the afternoon for your flight to Arusha.
