Prison Island Tour
Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location in Zanzibar and begin the tour to Prison Island. The island has a sanctuary for animals where you can see them, up close, and even feed and walk among them. The Aldabra Giant Tortoise Sanctuary holds a large colony of giant tortoises that were imported from Seychelles as a gift from their governor in the 18th century. The oldest tortoise may be as old as 190 years. Many others are over 100 and four are over 150! These are big animals, with an average weight of 200 kg. The island has excellent conditions for breeding.
Explore this nature haven which also houses a colony of peacocks with their showy tail feathers.
