Itinerary

1. Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park

   • Begin the day with an early game drive in Lake Manyara National Park.

   • Explore the park's diverse ecosystems, including the alkaline Lake Manyara, groundwater forests, acacia woodlands, and grassy plains.

   • Search for tree-climbing lions, one of the park’s most famous attractions, though sightings can be sporadic.

   • Spot large flocks of flamingos attracted to the alkaline lake.

   • Look for elephants, as Lake Manyara has a significant elephant population.

   • Observe buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, baboons, and various species of monkeys.

   • Enjoy abundant birdlife, with over 400 species, including pelicans, storks, and more.

   • Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, offering scenic views of the lake.

   • Continue the game drive in the afternoon, exploring different areas of the park.

   • Opt for a Treetop Walkway experience, if available and pre-booked, to gain a different perspective of the forest canopy and its inhabitants.

   • Head to accommodation located near Lake Manyara or towards the Tarangire area, depending on preferences and the next day's plan.

2. Day 2: Tarangire National Park

   • Drive to Tarangire National Park after an early breakfast, a short journey from the previous day’s accommodation.

   • Embark on a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park.

   • Witness large elephant herds, often numbering in the hundreds, and iconic baobab trees that dot the landscape.

   • Observe impressive wildlife concentrations along the Tarangire River, especially during the dry season (June to October).

   • Spot herbivores such as wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, eland, hartebeest, impala, and gazelles.

   • Search for predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, and look for wild dogs, fringe-eared oryx, and greater kudu.

   • Watch abundant birdlife, with over 550 species making Tarangire a haven for birdwatchers.

   • Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, possibly near the Tarangire River.

   • Continue the game drive in the afternoon, exploring different sections of the park, which include rolling hills, acacia woodlands, and open grasslands.

   • Begin the journey back towards the Lake Manyara area in the late afternoon, where your trip likely concludes.
