Itinerary

Day 1- Arrive Dar es salaam and transfer to Mikumi national park

Fly into Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam.
- Meet your guide or driver and begin your journey to Mikumi National Park (approximately 4-5 hours drive).
- Check into your accommodation in Mikumi.
- Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Mikumi, looking for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes.
Early morning game drive in Mikumi, focusing on spotting predators like lions and leopards.
- Return to your accommodation for lunch and relaxation.
- Afternoon game drive, exploring different areas of the park.
Day 2: Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
- Enjoy a final morning game drive in Mikumi.
- After lunch, transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (approximately 3-4 hours drive).
- Check into your accommodation near Udzungwa.
- If time permits, take a short walk to familiarize yourself with the park's surroundings.
- Full day of hiking and trekking in Udzungwa's rainforests.
- Visit the Sanje Waterfalls, a series of stunning cascades.
- Look for endemic primates like the Iringa red colobus and Sanje mangabey.

Day 3: Transfer to Ruaha National Park

What's Excluded

Mikumi National Park:

Night drives: While some operators might offer them, night drives can be risky due to the high concentration of wildlife

If you're not particularly keen on them, it's perfectly fine to skip them and focus on daytime game drives

Long stays: Mikumi is relatively smaller compared to other Tanzanian parks

If you're short on time or prefer a more diverse experience, a shorter stay (1-2 days) might be sufficient

Udzungwa Mountains National Park:

Strenuous hikes: Udzungwa is known for its challenging trails

If you have physical limitations or prefer easier walks, you can opt for shorter and less demanding trails

Vehicle safaris: Due to the dense forest, traditional game drives in vehicles are not the primary activity in Udzungwa

Focus on hiking and trekking instead

Ruaha National Park:

Budget constraints: Ruaha is a large and remote park, which can make it more expensive than other options

If you're on a tight budget, you might need to carefully plan your accommodation and activities to keep costs down

Crowds during peak season: Ruaha is becoming increasingly popular

F you prefer a more secluded experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons (just before or after the peak dry season)

General Exclusions for all three parks:

Impatience: Wildlife viewing requires patience. If you're not willing to spend time searching for animals, you might be disappointed

Disrespectful behavior: Always respect the wildlife and their habitat

Avoid making loud noises, getting too close to animals, or littering

Unnecessary risks: Don't take unnecessary risks, such as venturing off designated trails or ignoring your guide's instructions
