Itinerary

1. Day 1- Arrival and Exploration

   • Arrive at Udzungwa National Park, likely through a drive from a nearby city like Dar es Salaam or Morogoro.
   • Check into your accommodation, which could range from a lodge to a campsite.
   • In the afternoon, take a guided walk near the park headquarters. This is a good introduction to the forest's flora and maybe even some of the more common monkey species.
   • Enjoy dinner and relax, preparing for your main hike the next day.

2. Day 2- Sanje Falls Hike

   • This is your main hiking day! The most popular trek is to the stunning Sanje Falls.
   • The hike can take several hours, winding through the rainforest with opportunities to spot monkeys (like the Iringa red colobus or the Sanje mangabey if you're lucky!), birds, and unique plants.
   • Reach the majestic Sanje Falls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the pool at the bottom.
   • Have a picnic lunch with an incredible view.
   • Hike back to your accommodation in the afternoon.

3. Day 3- Shorter Hike and Departure

   • Enjoy a shorter hike in the morning, perhaps exploring a different trail or revisiting an area you particularly liked.
   • This could be a good time to focus on birdwatching, as the Udzungwas are home to many endemic species.
   • After lunch, depart from Udzungwa, either continuing your journey to another destination in Tanzania or heading back to your starting point.
