Day 1- Arrival and Canopy Adventure
Morning:
- Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey from Kigali can take several hours, so an early start is recommended. If driving from Kigali, plan on stops at cultural sites along the way. A very popular stop is in Butare to visit the National Museum of Rwanda.
- Upon arrival, check into your chosen accommodation. Nyungwe offers various lodging options, from budget-friendly to luxurious.
Afternoon:
- Embark on the famous Canopy Walk. This suspended bridge offers breathtaking views of the forest canopy and its inhabitants. It's a unique and thrilling experience.
- Consider a short hike along one of the trails near the Uwinka Visitor Center to familiarize yourself with the forest's diverse flora and fauna.
Evening:
- Enjoy dinner at your lodge and relax, preparing for the next day's chimpanzee trekking.
