1. 12-Hour Safari Itinerary for Katavi National Park

   • 06:00 AM – Begin Sunrise Game Drive
     Start your day early with a sunrise game drive across the Katisunga Plains. Witness large herds of buffalo and zebra, and increase your chances of spotting predators such as lions and leopards when they are most active.
   • 09:30 AM – Enjoy Bush Breakfast
     Stop at a scenic spot under an acacia tree or near a dry riverbed. Unpack a bush breakfast with coffee and local snacks while taking in the peaceful sounds of the wild.
   • 10:30 AM – Explore Hippo Pools and Riverine Drive
     Continue toward the Katuma River, famous for its dense hippo pods and large crocodiles. Watch elephants and giraffes along the riverbanks, and enjoy birdwatching in this rich ecosystem.
   • 01:00 PM – Picnic Lunch at Ikuu Bridge Area
     Pause for a picnic lunch at a shaded area near Ikuu Bridge, with panoramic views of the surrounding plains. Meals are typically arranged by your camp or lodge.
   • 02:30 PM – Siesta or Optional Short Walking Safari
     Return to camp for a short rest, or take a guided walking safari with a trained ranger if conditions permit. Learn to identify tracks, small creatures, and plant life on foot.
   • 04:00 PM – Resume Afternoon Game Drive
     Explore new terrains such as miombo woodlands, home to rare species including roan antelope, eland, and hyenas. Use this time to seek out species not yet seen earlier in the day.
   • 06:30 PM – Sunset at Lake Chada
     Conclude your safari day at Lake Chada, enjoying light snacks and drinks while watching the sun set over one of Tanzania’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes.
   • 07:30 PM – Return to Camp
     Head back to camp as nocturnal animals begin to emerge. Spot creatures like bush babies, civets, or porcupines along the way. End your day with a hearty dinner and time to unwind under the stars.
