Embark on a thrilling 6-day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro trek, one of the most scenic routes to the summit. Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
- Elevation: 7,800ft to 9,500ft
- Distance: 6 km
- Hiking Time: 4 hours
- Habitat: Rainforest
- Drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for park entry formalities. After a short drive to the Lemosho trailhead, enjoy lunch before beginning your trek through lush rainforest. Your first night is spent at Forest Camp.
Day 2: Forest Camp to Shira Camp I to Shira Camp II
- Elevation: 9,500ft to 12,500ft
- Distance: 18 km
- Hiking Time: 10 hours
- Habitat: Moorland
- Leave the rainforest behind as you ascend through moorlands filled with tall grasses and volcanic rock. Reach Shira Ridge and enjoy views of Kibo Peak before descending to Shira Camp I. Continue to Shira Camp II, nestled in scenic meadows.
Day 3: Shira Camp II to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
- Elevation: 12,500ft to 13,000ft
- Distance: 10 km
- Hiking Time: 8 hours
- Habitat: Semi-Desert
- Acclimatization day. Trek to Lava Tower (15,190ft), known as the "Shark’s Tooth," for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp. This ascent and descent aid in altitude acclimatization.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Elevation: 13,000ft to 15,000ft
- Distance: 11 km
- Hiking Time: 9 hours
- Habitat: Alpine Desert
- Start with the challenging Barranco Wall climb, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Continue to Karanga Valley and take a short break before heading toward Barafu Camp, your final stop before the summit.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Summit (Uhuru Peak) to Mweka Camp
- Elevation: 15,300ft to 19,345ft (Summit) then down to 10,000ft
- Distance: 6 km ascent / 13 km descent
- Hiking Time: 8 hours ascent / 7 hours descent
- Habitat: Arctic
- Begin the summit push at midnight. Ascend through scree and glaciers to Stella Point for sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebration, descend to Barafu Camp for lunch and then proceed to Mweka Camp.
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi/Arusha
- Elevation: 10,000ft to 5,400ft
- Distance: 10 km
- Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
- Habitat: Rainforest
- Complete your descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha to relax and celebrate your accomplishment.

Know Before You Go

Travel insurance is highly recommended for trip cancellations, medical emergencies, evacuation, and lost baggage.

Ensure your insurance includes high-altitude trekking coverage (above 5,000m).

Temperatures vary:

Rainforest: 20-25°C (warm, humid)

Alpine Desert: 5-15°C (cool, dry)

Summit (Uhuru Peak): -7°C to -20°C (very cold, windy)

Acclimatization is included in the 6-day itinerary to reduce altitude sickness risks.

Health monitoring is conducted twice daily by guides.

Emergency evacuation procedures and oxygen are available if needed.

Stay hydrated by drinking 3-4 liters of water daily.

Bring necessary prescriptions, including optional altitude sickness medication (Diamox).

Tanzania visa required for most travelers (available online or on arrival).

Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from entry.

Best climbing months: January–March & June–October (dry seasons).

Rainy season: April–May & November (more challenging due to wet conditions).
