Itinerary

1. Day 1- Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

   • Depart from Dar es Salaam in the morning and journey to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), one of Tanzania’s largest and most pristine parks. 
   • Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and prepare for an exciting afternoon boat safari along the Rufiji River. As you cruise the river, enjoy close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, all while taking in the stunning scenery. 
   • This is a perfect way to start your safari adventure in Nyerere. Afterward, return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay, ready for the next day’s adventure.

2. Day 2- Full Day in Nyerere National Park

   • Enjoy a full day of exploration in Nyerere National Park. Begin your day with an early morning game drive, where you’ll witness the park’s wildlife come to life. 
   • Nyerere is home to an abundance of animals, including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and many more. In the afternoon, take a break for lunch before embarking on another exciting game drive or relax at your lodge. 
   • As the sun sets, you’ll have a chance to reflect on the day's experiences over dinner and spend the night surrounded by nature's sounds.

3. Day 3- Nyerere to Mikumi National Park

   • Wake up early for a walking safari with an expert guide, a unique opportunity to experience the park up close and learn about the local flora and fauna. Afterward, enjoy breakfast and begin your journey to Mikumi National Park, about 4-5 hours away. 
   • As you travel through the Tanzanian countryside, you’ll arrive in Mikumi by the afternoon and settle into your lodge or camp.
   • Once settled, you can take a relaxing game drive in Mikumi’s open plains to spot wildlife like elephants, zebras, and buffaloes. Dinner will be served at your lodge/camp, followed by an overnight stay in Mikumi.

4. Day 4- Full Day in Mikumi National Park

   • Today is dedicated to exploring the beauty of Mikumi National Park, a wildlife haven. 
   • Start your day with an early morning game drive, where you’ll venture into the park’s grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands. Mikumi is home to a variety of animals, including lions, giraffes, wildebeests, and many bird species. 
   • You’ll also visit the Mkata River, where wildlife often gathers for a drink. 
   • Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue your game drive in the afternoon. Afterward, return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

5. Day 5- Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

   • After breakfast, embark on your final game drive in Mikumi National Park, where you’ll have one last chance to spot animals in their natural habitat. 
   • Then, begin your drive back to Dar es Salaam, taking in the scenic views along the way. You’ll arrive in Dar es Salaam by late afternoon, where your unforgettable safari journey will come to a close.
