Itinerary

1. Full Day Itinerary for Tarangire National Park Day Trip

   Departure from Arusha (6:00 AM - 7:00 AM)

   • 6:00 AM: Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from your hotel in Arusha. The drive to Tarangire National Park takes approximately 2-3 hours (120 km).

   • Enjoy scenic views of Maasai villages and rolling landscapes as you head southwest towards the park.

   Arrival & Game Drive (9:30 AM - 1:00 PM)

   • 9:30 AM: Arrive at Tarangire National Park and go through park entry formalities with the help of your expert guide.

   • Game Drive: Start your exploration of Tarangire, known for its abundant wildlife:

     • Large elephant herds: Some of the biggest herds in East Africa.

     • Big cats: Spot lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

     • Other wildlife: Giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and the rare fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk.

     • Birdwatching: Tarangire is a haven for birdwatchers with over 500 bird species.

   • As you drive through the park, you will see the beautiful savannah, swamps, and Tarangire River, which sustains wildlife during the dry season.

   Picnic Lunch with a View (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)

   • 1:00 PM: Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch at one of the park’s scenic viewpoints. While dining, you may witness elephants or other wildlife roaming nearby, creating an unforgettable safari experience.

   Afternoon Game Drive & Exploration (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM)

   • 2:00 PM: Continue your game drive through different areas of Tarangire.

   • This is an excellent time to spot big cats resting in the shade or elephants cooling off near waterholes, especially as the afternoon heat kicks in.

   Return to Arusha (3:30 PM - 6:30 PM)

   • 3:30 PM: Begin your journey back to Arusha as the sun starts to set.

   • 6:30 PM: Arrive in Arusha in the early evening, concluding your memorable day at Tarangire National Park.
