Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport expand_more
Arrive at the Kilimanjaro Airport and be transferred to Moshi Ameg Hotel (B&B).

Day 2: Drive to Machame Gate expand_more
Drive to the Machame Gate just after breakfast (1800m).
After park formalities, the trek will continue to a steeping trail which leads to natural rain forest on a clearing ridge to Machame Camp.

Day 3: Trekking Up the Moorland Ridge expand_more
Continue up on a Moorland Ridge through the giant heathers, though it gradually becomes very rocky before levelling out on Shira Plateau.

Day 4: Proceed to Barranco Camp expand_more
After breakfast, climb upwards on a rocky path leading east towards the lava tower with impressive views of Breach wall precipices.
Shortly further beyond, the trek descends to the Barranco campsite.

Day 5: Climb to the Karanga Camp expand_more
Scramble easily to the top of the Great Barranco and then a traverse over screes and ridges to the Karanga Valley campsite, beneath the icefalls of the Southern Glaciers.

Day 6: Ascend to Barafu Hut expand_more
Trail goes ahead and ascend to the ridge to Barafu Hut, an airy location with little vegetation.

Day 7: Summit at Uhuru Peak expand_more
- Striving to the summit starts just after midnight, which allows you to be on the summit by sunrise, then ascend to the screens which lead to Stella Point (5725m, 6hrs).
- From here, a further 40mins walk leads you to Uhuru Peak Summit (5895m).
- Descend to Barafu Hut for a rest and brunch before continuing down to Mweka Hut at 3100m.
