Begin your adventure from Arusha to Momella Gate, ascending from 1597m to 2503m, finding respite at Miriakamba Hut. Continue the journey to the steep ascent of Saddle Hut at 2503m, followed by an optional climb to Little Meru Peak. Finally, conquer the majestic Big Meru Peak, reaching 4566m before descending to the starting point via Miriakamba, concluding an unforgettable journey full of exploration and discovery.

Itinerary

Day 1: Momela gate-Miriakamb Huts: 13.8 km/ 8.6 mi
- You will get picked up from your hotel in Arusha. After breakfast, depart Moshi at about 8:30 a.m. for the Momella Gate. Make the payment and start the climb with a picnic lunch at the first hut, Miriakamba Hut.
- Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba Hut

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut: 6.1 km/3.8 mi | 2.5 hrs
- After breakfast, you climb to the second hut, Saddle. This part is too steep compared to the first part (2.5 hours).
- During the afternoon, you can decide to attempt climbing the Little Meru peak and back. Dinner and overnight – Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Saddle Hut-Summit: 5.5 km/3.4 mi: Descend To Saddle Hut
- Wake up at midnight and have tea before starting the big Meru peak. Proceed to the summit, crossing the rocky path, and back to Saddle Hut for breakfast. The day will be spent resting.
Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay at Saddle Hut.

Day 4: Saddle Hut – Momella Gate: 6.5 km/4 mi
- Leave Saddle hut and descend to Momella gate via the first hut (Miriakamba), where you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel 4 stars B&B.
- Transfer to your journey home, safari or a relaxing trip to Zanzibar.

What To Bring

SLEEPING BAG

Sleeping bag (Rated 10 degrees F/-25 degrees C or colder is recommended)

Sleeping Pad and repair kit

CLOTHING

You want your inner layer to be wicking – no cotton

The next layer should be insulating and warm, and the top layer should be waterproof but breathable. You will need clothes for hiking during the day, lounging in the evening, and sleeping. Layers are important, as temperatures vary greatly.

Your clothing should be lightweight, breathable, hand-washable, and quick-drying

Shorts, mid-thigh or longer

Long pants (zip-off pants are very useful)

Short-sleeved shirts, long-sleeved shirts, undergarments, socks

Sport-Bras for women (Roads can be bumpy): Sweater, jacket, windbreaker, rain jacket, pants, or rain poncho.

COLD WEATHER CLOTHING

Long underwear, Fleece jacket or wool sweater, Fleece pants, Mittens and/or gloves (waterproof, one thin pair, one thick pair that can be layered)

Wool or pile hat, balaclava or neck gaiter, hand and foot warmers

Chemically activated) down jacket or parka (for temperatures below freezing plus wind)

FOOTWEAR

Be sure to break in your shoes before the hike

Trekking shoes for hiking during the day, preferably warm, waterproof, and with ankle support – not too light and not too heavy

Tennis shoes or sandals for lounging in the evening, hiking socks for warmer conditions, and wool socks for colder conditions

BAGGAGE

A large duffel bag or backpack with a rain cover is for support crews, and a daypack and rain cover are for you to carry.
