Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Meet the driver at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to your hotel in Moshi.
Relax after your flight, take a dip in the pool or explore Moshi.
Meet the Bujo Tours operation team for a briefing session.

Day 2: Moshi to Londorossi Gate to Shira One Campsite
Drive from Moshi to Londorosi gate for registration.
Board a vehicle, and drive further up to Moramu gate.
Trek through the moorland and heather vegetation heading to the east, crossing ridges. Go through valleys as well.
Reach Shira One Campsite.
Elevation: 1200 m to 1830 m to 3500 m
Distance: 18 km
Hiking Time: 3 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest to Moorland and Heath vegetation

Day 3: Shira One Campsite to Shira Two Campsite
Trek to east across Shira plateau, visiting Cathedral Peak (3850m) for acclimatisation.
Enjoy great views of Mt. Meru and Kibo Peak.
Walk to Shira Two Campsite and stay overnight.
Elevation: 3500m to 3800 m
Distance: 7 km
Hiking time: 5-6 hours
Habitat: Moorland and rock

Day 3: Shira Two Campsite to Barranco Campsite
Have an early breakfast.
Continue trekking east to a junction leading to Lava tower rock (4600 m) for acclimatisation.
Continue to Barranco hut camp for supper and overnight stay.
Elevation: 3800 m to 3950 m
Distance: 13 km
Hiking time: 7-8 hours

Day 5: Barranco Campsite to Karanga Campsite
Begin the day with a short walk.
Climb Barranco wall, and reach 4200 m for acclimatization.
Continue crossing ridges and valleys to Karanga campsite for a hot lunch.
After lunch, relax and spend another day for acclimatisation.
Trek up the scree slopes towards the Southern ice field.
Return to camp for supper and overnight stay.

Day 6: Karanga Campsite to Barafu Campsite
Trek up to the Barafu ridge campsite. The walk takes few hours because of short distance but steep which need slowly walk so to avoid tiredness.
Walk across an alpine desert with strong and cold winds blowing.
Have an early dinner and rest until midnight.
Elevation: 3900 m to 4620 m
Distance: 8 km
Hiking time: 3-4 hours

Day 7: Barafu Hut Campsite to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut Campsite
Wake up at midnight to a light breakfast.
Prepare for your summit ascent. The goal is to climb before dawn, so you reach Uhuru Peak shortly before or after sunrise.
Leave for the peak at 12:00 am.
Reach Stella Point on the crater rim at 5,861 m between 4 and 5 am. Enjoy the mesmerizing views of the fabled crater and its icecaps facing you.
After another hour of hiking along the Kibo crater rim will take you to Kilimanjaro summit- Uhuru Peak.
Spend some time and celebrate the success of your trek.
Descend to the Barafu huts campsite for lunch.
After some rest, continue down through moorland and heath zone to Mweka huts campsite.
Have dinner and stay overnight at Mweka hut campsite.

Day 8: Mweka Hut campsite to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, descend down to the Mweka park gate, walking across the forest.
At the gate, sign out, and get ready to board the vehicle ready for the transfer back to the hotel in Moshi.

Day 9: Departure
Reach Moshi.
Celebrate the trek at the certificate distribution event.
Depart from Moshi.
