Itinerary
-
Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) to Arusha Town
Arrive at Arusha Airport and meet our guide who will transfer you to your hotel.
Learn about the undisputed 'safari capital' of East Africa, which is perched at 1,400 metres above sea level, keeping the temperatures and humidity relatively low. Mount Meru towers above Arusha, while even distant Kilimanjaro can be seen on a clear day. Arusha provides the ideal starting point for safari-lovers within reach of Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
Know more about the natural attraction. Named after the Wa-Arusha residents of the town, this busy agricultural, administrative and tourist centre is the perfect place to relax after a long journey.
Overnight: Planet Lodge I Arusha - FB.
-
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Get picked up in the morning, and after a short briefing session, head to the Tarangire National Park- the park with its savannah grassland, baobab trees and seasonal swamps. It is home to huge elephant herds.
Be prepared to see a selection of mammals ranging from giraffes, bush-bucks and wildebeest to zebras and warthogs. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests, which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen now and then, but cheetahs are rarely spotted.
Absorb the landscape and watch the animals from the open roof of the safari vehicle. In the late afternoon, leave the park and head to a nearby campsite, where you will spend the night camping.
Overnight: Jambo Campsite I Mtowa Mbu.
-
Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Serengeti
- Have breakfast and collect your lunch boxes and leave from the Lodge for Serengeti National Park.
- Marvel at the sheer scale of the territory and the raw beauty of the landscapes along the way as your driver guide helps you to spot animals and birds.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch and grab some great wildlife-spotting opportunities in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. These 'endless plains' are home to elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetah, hippo and crocodiles.
- Return to your chosen accommodation for dinner and to talk about the many fantastic experiences of the day.
Overnight: Seronera Public Campsite I Serengeti.
-
Day 4: Serengeti National Park Full Day
Wake up to a new experience at Serengeti. As the sights, sounds and smells of Africa serenade you, gear up for the morning section of your game drive.
Marvel at the stunning scenery, ever-changing light, and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by our expert driver guide.
Have your picnic lunch and set off again, searching for wildlife in this awe-inspiring park. The numerous animals and birds here are the 'stars of the show', and Nature's dramas can unfold at any time.
Return to the comfort of the lodge for dinner and some much-needed rest.
For those who have booked the Balloon Safari, you will be picked up from the lodge at 05.00 am.
Overnight: Seronera Public Campsite I Serengeti.
-
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Go on a morning game drive. Spot some more of the many species at Serengeti and learn about their fascinating habits and habitats.
After a pleasant picnic lunch, drive eastwards to visit another spectacular setting for Tanzania's wildlife- the famous Ngorongoro Crater.
On arrival, settle in at the campsite/lodge while a tasty, hot dinner is prepared for you.
Overnight: Simba Public Campsite I Ngorongoro.
-
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha/Airport
Enjoy another true spectacle of African wildlife before driving back to Arusha. Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as a wonder of the world and your early morning game drive shows you why.
See the volcanic caldera (the world's largest) full of grassland forest and swamp. The permanent water of this crater floor supports a resident population of more than 25,000 large mammals. You can witness the elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, wallowing hippo, waterbuck, baboons, etc. Even the rare black rhino finds shelter here.
See the Maasai grazing their cattle in an area, which has been a separate conservation area since 1956 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. This harmonious cohabitation of man and beast makes Ngorongoro unique in Tanzania, and your driver guide will be pleased to explain this incredible co-existence to you.
Go on a morning game drive. Have your picnic lunch in the crater in the afternoon before returning to Arusha/Airport.
