Enjoy a Bedouin-style desert camp, ride camels or quad bikes, stay in a troglodyte house in Matmata, and discover the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Tozeur Old Medina
- Early morning departure from Tunis, Hammamet, or Sousse.
- Scenic drive through central Tunisia with a lunch stop.
- Arrival in Tozeur in the afternoon and check-in at the hotel.
- Short walk through the Old Medina of Tozeur, famous for its traditional brick architecture.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Mountain Oases and Star Wars Desert Raid
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure in 4x4 vehicles for a full day of exploration: Visit Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides mountain oases with waterfalls and panoramic canyon views.
- Lunch in a palm grove at Tamerza.
- Afternoon 4x4 desert adventure to Ong Jemel, including the Star Wars Mos Espa film set.
Return to Tozeur for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chott El Jerid Salt Lake and Desert Camp Experience
- Breakfast and check-out from the hotel.
- Drive across the Chott El Jerid salt lake with photo stops.
- Arrival in Douz, the “Gateway to the Sahara”.
- Free time to explore the local souk (market).
- Optional: Quad biking adventure and sunset over the dunes (extra).
- Transfer to a Bedouin-style desert camp.
Dinner and overnight under the stars.
Day 4: Camel Ride, Berber Villages, and Troglodyte Stay
- Early breakfast at the desert camp.
- Optional camel ride at sunrise across golden dunes (extra).
- Departure for Tamazret and Matmata, Berber villages in southern Tunisia.
- Check-in to a troglodyte house-hotel, a unique underground rock home.
- Lunch and leisure time to rest.
- Afternoon excursion including a visit to Toujane, a traditional Berber mountain village.
Dinner and overnight at the troglodyte hotel.
Day 5: El Jem Amphitheatre and Return to Coastal Cities
- Early breakfast and departure from Matmata.
- Stop en route for a guided visit to the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem, one of the best-preserved in the world.
- Continue north to Tunis, Hammamet, or Sousse.
- Arrival by late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of the adventure.

Know Before You Go

This tour covers long distances with early departures be prepared for several hours of travel each day with beautiful scenery and cultural stops along the way.

The itinerary includes desert mountains and small villages facilities may vary from place to place.

The experience is semi-adventurous and may include rustic environments especially in the desert camp.

Daytime is usually warm to hot especially from April to October.

Nights can be cool or cold in the desert especially from October to March.

Always check the forecast before departure and pack layers accordingly.

Some activities are not included in the base price and are payable on-site such as camel rides at sunrise or sunset.

Entrance to certain museums or sites.

Bring cash Tunisian Dinar as cards may not be accepted in remote areas.

Meals are typically local Tunisian cuisine with vegetarian options available inform your guide in advance if you require special dietary preferences.

Tunisian ID or passport is required for hotel check-ins.

Tips for local guides and drivers are not mandatory but highly appreciated.

Recommended 5–10 TND per person per day or as you feel appropriate.

Phone signal is available in most towns but can be very limited in the desert.

Some hotels and camps offer Wi-Fi but do not rely on high-speed internet.
