Great Mountain Trekking Tour expand_more
Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location in Cluj Napoca and begin the tour. You will be transported in an air-conditioned minibus.
Start the tour with a short learning session, where you will be introduced to the basic skill of walking with snowshoes.
Walk through the forest and over the mountain through deep snow and on some steep slopes. This will be a great walk to remember.
Keep your eyes open on the 5 h-30 min walk over the Great Mountain near Cluj, which will bring you to great viewpoints and through deep forests. The knowledgeable guide will offer discussions on native plants and animals, geology, and local culture.
Discover the finer points of winter ecology and other unique conditions of the Carpathian Mountains area.
Stop along the way to take in the beautiful views and enjoy hot drinks. The guided Snowshoe Tours are popular with all levels of nature enthusiasts.

What to bring
Basic hiking gear required for a day hike in the summer:
- Hiking boots with the adherent sole (Vibram sole if it is possible) waterproof and preferably with high ankles
- Breathable t-shirt, 1-2-3
- Quick Dry Pants-Shorts
- Warm blouse (in a bag in the backpack)
- Jacket (waterproof)
- Raincoat
- Moisture-wicking underwear
- Socks (synthetic or wool)
- Hiking poles (optional), we will offer them
- Small backpack approx 20L to 30L
- 2L water bottle or reservoir
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Sun hat
- Food for the trail (sandwiches, carbohydrate-rich energy bars, granola, trail mix and fruit provide an instant pick-me-up on the trail)
- For winter hiking, the company will provide you with snowshoes, avalanche transceivers (if the case) or gaiters

Know before you go
- Hiking is made easy by wearing special shoes on your feet that allow you to walk on top of the snow rather than sinking up to your chin. You will need normal walking boots as the snowshoes have adjustable straps and will fit on any boots.
Departure & Return: Traveller pick-up is offered from your hotel/airport in Cluj Napoca.

It is important to have good hiking shoes because you will do a 3-hour hike through Turda Gorges.
Not recommended for travellers with back problems, heart problems or other serious medical conditions.
Not recommended for pregnant travellers.
Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
Every participant will be requested to purchase their own trek insurance for the duration of the trip, which covers mountains in summer conditions up to 2,000 m.
