Hello!

My name is Sara Cruz, and I am the founder, manager, and one of the tour guides at GO! Walks Portugal, which I created in 2012 to help promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Central Portugal - the region between Lisbon and Porto.

This area is often overlooked, serving mainly as a passage between the north and south of the country.But my hometown, Coimbra, was once the capital of the Portuguese Kingdom in the 12th century, and it was here that the Reconquest began.Many key medieval events followed! Even before that, Lusitanians, Romans, Barbarians, and Moors all left their mark, and their presence can still be traced today.

Some of the must-see places in this region include Conímbriga, the Schist Villages of Lousã, Aveiro and its surroundings, Tomar, the Monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça, Coimbra with its historic University and old town, the religious sites of Fátima and Nazaré (also world-famous for its giant waves!), and the medieval town of Óbidos - just to name a few!
