Description
The Wawel Royal Castle, rebuilt by Italian artists Niccolò Castiglione and Mateo the Italian in the 16th century, holds a unique collection of 16th-century Flemish tapestries.
- Barbican: Medieval fortifications in the northern part of Krakow.
St. Mary’s Basilica: It is one of the most well-known churches in Poland. Inside St. Mary’s Church, there is the world’s largest wooden altar.
- Sukiennice (Cloth Hall): Sukiennice in the 13th century was a place where people could sell and buy clothes and other fabrics. It was rebuilt in the 19th century. Now, there is an Art Museum of Krakow and many stalls where you can buy souvenirs.
- Jagiellonian University Museum: Collegium Maius is the oldest university building in Poland.
- Wawel Royal Cathedral: Walking along Grodzka Street, you will explore Wawel Hill. Then you will visit Wawel Royal Cathedral.
The Jewish population had played an important role in the Kraków regional economy since the end of the 13th century, granted freedom of worship, trade, and travel by Bolesław Pious, the Duke of Greater Poland, as issued in 1264. Kazimierz, the town founded by King Casimir the Great in the 14th century, was originally a Christian city. By the end of the fifteenth century, Jews had been expelled. Before the Second World War, Krakow was an influential center for 69,000 Polish Jews. The Kraków Ghetto was formally established on 3 March 1941 in the Podgórze district, not in the Jewish district of Kazimierz.
During that walking tour, you will have a chance to see all seven of Kazimierz’s synagogues, one of which is active and connected to an old Jewish cemetery. Then the route will lead us to the Podgórze District, an area surrounded by buildings that witnessed the Holocaust. You will explore Schindler’s Factory and the remnants of the Ghetto wall from the World War II period.

- Meet at a place convenient to you, such as your hotel, airport, or train station in Warsaw, and begin the transfer to Krakow by train or car.
Arrive in Krakow and begin an 8-hour guided walking tour exploring the former capital of Poland.

Start the tour at Barbican, the medieval fortifications located in the northern part of Krakow.
