Itinerary

Day 1: Acclimatizing full day
This day is reserved for acclimatisation.

Day 2: Huaraz – Laguna 69 – Hospedaje Illary Vaqueria
Depart around 6 am from Huaraz.
Arrive at Cebollapampa passing by Llanganuco Lakes 3850 masl.
Stop at the trailhead of Cebollapampa and start hiking up to Lake 69 comprising of simple and tricky trails.
Enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain and the lake.
Walk down for about 2 hours to the car, then go up to the Portachuelo de Llanganuco for about one hour.
Experience the sunset behind the mountains.
Hike down from the pass to Vaqueria mountain hostel.
Dinner and overnight at the hostel at 3750 masl.

Day 3: Hospedaje Illary Vaqueria – Pomabamba
After breakfast at the hostel in Vaqueria around 8 am, prepare for your transfer to Pomabamba province, feast on the gorgeous spectacle of villages typical Andean towns, lush landscapes and white peak mountains en-route.
Arrive at Pomabamba around 2 pm for lunch and explore the town.
Rest and relax at the hot springs.
Dinner and overnight in a basic hostel in Pomabamba 2948 masl.

Day 4: Pomabamba – Jancapampa
After breakfast at the hotel in Pomabamba, drive to Jancapampa for about 2 hours, en-route enjoy the wonderful landscape and typical houses and villages.
Arrive at Jancapampa. Donkey carries will help you with the logistics.
Walk to the campsite for around two hours, and set up your camp overlooking wonderful panoramic mountain views next to the river.
Eat lunch served at around 2 pm and then you can spend the afternoon at ease.
Walk to the base of the Pucajirca Mountain.
Dinner and overnight in Jancapampa.

Day 5: Jancapampa – Yanacon Pass – Huillca
Hike up until Yanacon Pass 4850 masl, considered the most difficult hiking pass in this circuit, then hike down to Huilca campsite at 4300 masl.

Day 6: Huillca – Safuna – Mesapata Pass – Tayapampa
In the morning, hike to Lake Safuna, and then to Mesapata pass 4500 masl.
Total distance: 10 km
Duration: 7 hours

Day 7: Tayapampa – Caracara Pass – Jancarurish
Be prepared for an early hike-up to Caracara Windy Pass at 4850 masl.
Savour the of the stunning Santa Cruz massif and the pyramidal Alpamayo mountains as you walk down to the campsite fixed at the North Base Camp Alpamayo called Jancarurish at 4250 masl.
Dinner and overnight

Day 8: Jancarurish – North Face Base Camp Alpamayo
Today will be a rest day and you are free to explore on your own. You can hike to base the camp from Alpamayo to Santa Cruz, or just relax at the campsite and eat and sleep at Alpamayo North Face.
Dinner and overnight at 4250 masl.

Day 9: Jancarurish – Ruinapampa – Ichic Vientona – Osoruri
Relish over a morning breakfast and walk down along the Cedros valley for about couple of hours to get Ruinapampa.
Rest for a while and then trace a zigzag trail for about another 3 hours, to the highest pass - Ichicvientona 4750masl.
Scout to the campsite from the pass (1 hour).
Spend overnight at Osoruri 4625 masl approx.
Witness a surreal sunset over the Black Mountain (9 hours).

Day 10: Morning breafast after realxing easy walking down along the Cedros valley for about couple of hours to get ruinapampa, have a little rest to start zigzag trail for about another 3 hours, the highest pass is ichicvientona 4750masl, then from the pass to the camp site is aprox walking time one hour and overnight at Osoruri 4625masl parox observe the nice sunset over the black mountain, walking time around 9 hours
Walk up to the pass of Hatunvientona 485 masl, from the campsite (1 hour) and be impressed by a nice blue lake of Cullicocha.
Have lunch, and walk down to Calamina campsite at about 3800 masl (8 hours).

Day 11: Calamina – Hualacayan – Huaraz
Walk down for about 3 hours to the last village of Hualcayan at 2800 masl approx.
Proceed to Huaraz after the trial ends at Hualcayan (4 hours drive).
Arrive at Huaraz around 4 pm.
